About 20 years ago, our friend, and town undertaker, suggested to my wife that I put lights on the pine tree in our front yard. At that time the tree was about even with the roof of our house. Now, I’m not sure Mike had the wherewithal to anticipate that I would be climbing up the center of that tree for the last 20 years to add and replace strands of C-9 bulbs – however the thought of subterfuge entered my mind while I hung on for dear life this year. (Reluctantly, last year I had to finally acquiesce and replace the C-9 bulbs with C-7’s so the circuits would quit blowing in the house.) Were Mike and my better half in cahoots?

After being sat out four consecutive Rockford IceHogs games due to what head coach Ted Dent called “conduct” violations, Chicago Blackhawks 2008 first-round draft pick Kyle Beach returned to the lineup on Saturday night in grand fashion.
Not only did Beach register the first hat-trick of his 175-game professional career, but he also contributed in every special teams situation in leading the IceHogs to a much-needed 4-3 victory over their rival Chicago Wolves after Rockford suffered a 7-1 shellacking in Rosemont the previous night.
Following Saturday night’s game, we had an opportunity to sit down for an exclusive one-on-one interview with the often beleaguered former 1st round draft pick.
