TTMI~Radio, e.97, A Feeling of a Hammerhead

On this week’s show we open up the listener email bag to discuss topics ranging from Viktor Stalberg’s handsomely prowess to Kyle Beach’s bust-ness to whether or not some legendary Blackhawks should be in the Hall of Fame.

We also compare this year’s Blackhawks to where the team was at this point a season ago and take a look at how the 2010-11 team’s secondary scoring stacks up against the current group.

All this plus more on 2-year old puppy dog behavior, Superstar on the bottom and what’s been bugging Block.

TTMI~Radio, e.95 – In the Meantime

How’s this for self-promotion….

It’s a show.  I don’t really know what to say about this one other than the Superstar and I got back together for e.95 of TheThirdManIn~Radio.  Usually when he and I do these things you never know what we’ll talk about and the reason is – neither do we.

We talked about some things, I don’t recall too much exactly.  We had a show outline but it was aborted during the music intro.  I enjoyed myself though.  We discussed the Blackhawks getting better today, how awful traditionally they’ve been in Philly (Stanley Cup aside), a few New Years resolutions, Andrew Shaw and some other stuff I can’t recall at the moment.

I’d say its completely missable unless you’re desperate for time killer or background noise at work.  Its probably best for that.

I’d say we’ll do better next time, but that’s too lofty a goal.

As promised a few days ago, its the return of TTMI~Radio!

Al Cimaglia of Sirius/XM Radio and MyFoxChicago.com joined me to preview tonight’s Boxing Day Blackhawks-Blue Jackets matchup and to give his take on the Blackhawks, now 35 games into the 2011-12 season.

Its a solid hour of Blackhawks’ talk as we break down what is statistically the best team in the entire National Hockey League at the moment.

Pardon my rust on the controls and our idiot caller.

Al Cimaglia, now writing and covering the Blackhawks at MyFoxChicago.com, joined me tonight on episode 93 of TheThirdManIn~Radio.

We chat about the importance of the Hawks’ immediate upcoming schedule, Duncan Keith’s early season struggles, Patrick Kane’s game, Jeremy Morin’s huge return to the IceHogs’ line up this past weekend and the continued state of befuddlement surrounding John Scott’s place on the Blackhawks.

TTMI~Radio, Kings’ Beat with MayorsManor.com

On tonight’s show we’re joined by The Mayor, coincidentally enough, owner and author of MayorsManor.com, an outstanding LA Kings’ blog.

John joins us to give us the latest on the Drew Doughty contract hold out, where the two sides stand and how Doughty’s status is, or isn’t, affecting his teammates.

Over this solid hour, we covered the Kings’ depth and versatility on the blue line.  We take a look at the rookie who will likely step in to hold Doughty’s place in the line up in the interim; Jack Johnson’s place heading into his new 7-year contract and Willie Mitchell’s health and value entering what is a contract-year for the former Canuck blue liner.

Up front we preview a new-look top six and the competition for jobs on the Kings’ third and fourth lines.  Also, Mayor gives us his thoughts on Mike Richards in LA, where the real leadership comes from on this Kings team and why the Mayor believes this group of Kings are the real deal.

We covered all-things Kings.  The Mayor does a terrific job covering the team.  From player interviews, behind the scenes insight to breaking news, MayorsManor is a must-visit for LA Kings information and analysis.

Upcoming radio show schedule

Some quick notes on our upcoming internet radio schedule.

First off, I never did plug this but since I do have a link for this…  I was the guest on the Let’s Go Kings podcast back on September 7th answering LA Kings’ fans questions on the Blackhawks, the new acquisitions and expectations in Chicago this season.  Also, which players I “hate” most on the Canucks, which is a ridiculous question but I tried to answer as best I could.  Overall, it was a good interview and I had a nice time chatting with those guys.  So give them a listen if you get the chance.  I’m on for about the first half hour.

On to our business….

TTMI~Radio returns live tomorrow night September 20th at 9pm eastern/8 central/6 pacific.  No guest tomorrow so we’ll have plenty of time for listener questions and our usual innate babble.  I realize we’re going head-up against the Hawks-Oilers game streaming from Saskatoon.  Even more reason to tune in with us as we give live feedback during the action.  We’ll discuss the opening days of training camp as well as updated analysis on Rusty Olesz, John Scott, Viktor Stalberg, Sami Lepisto and Corey Crawford.  If you have a topic or question you’d like us to hit, you can send those to me at my email listed at the bottom of this update.

On Monday September 26th at 10pm eastern/9 central and 7 pacific, I’ll be joined by John Hoven, author of the terrific LA Kings’ blog MayorsManor.com.  Some of you may remember when The Mayor first joined us this time last year.  He’ll give us an all-access pass to all things to the new and improved LA Kings, a team considered to be a top favorite by many to lead the way in the Western Conference.

The next night, September 27, back at our regular 8pm central start time, we’re joined by Sam Fels, writer extraordinaire to preview the Blackhawks and the upcoming NHL season abroad.  Listen in as the editor of The Committed Indian, Second City Hockey and NBC’s Madhouse Enforcer gives us his take on the 2011-12 season.

That’s all for now.

TTMI~Radio, e.89 – “‘Hog Changes” w/ Mike Peck, voice of the Rockford IceHogs

On this edition of TTMI~Radio I’m joined by Mike Peck, the voice of the Rockford IceHogs.

Mike returns to help us preview the 2011-12 IceHogs’ season by examining the coaching change, new bench boss Ted Dent and the AHL squad’s roster turnover.  We also get Mike’s scouting report on Brandon Segal, who spent the last half of the 2004-05 season in Rockford while a member of the Nashville Predators’ organization.

We also take a look at important players up front and on the defense this year in the wake of key losses offensively as well in experience and leadership.  Ben Smith, Joe Lavin, Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin are discussed as well.  We also get an update on rink refurbishments currently going on at the Beemo Center.
