-Kudos to Joel Quenneville’s recent handling of the goaltending position and why
-Change in Quenneville’s philosophy
-Stan Bowman acknowledges team fortunate
-Potential playoff matchups and which favor the Hawks
-Why a series with Vancouver may not favor Chicago
-Toews for MVP
-Ridiculous reasoning for ruling out other Hart candidates
-A GM doing his job
-This site celebrates a 5th year
-Updates on Dave Bolland and Brian Campbell injuries
-Florida game
-Playing Crawford every night
-More on Campoli acquisition and his value
-Trouble if Bolland’s out
-Handicapping the week ahead
-Convincing Marcus Kruger & Alexander Salak to move to N.A.
-No success explaining new standings tie-breaker method
-Superstar hits the road, and the water
-Someone visits temporary sobriety
-Hossa & Kane get their Awesome on

We didn’t get to everything, but that’s nothing new.  The title of this show is a reference to the last two years of this web site.  Thanks to everyone as always for visiting and listening.  And for your incredible patience with us.  The show returns next Tuesday night, March 22nd @ 8pm central with Dieter Kurtenbach joining me as guest-host.

TTMI~Radio: Trade Deadline edition with Al Cimaglia, Dieter Kurtenbach and Chris Block

Monday night I was joined by Sirius/XM Radio & HockeyIndependent.com ‘s own Al Cimaglia, and as well by Dieter Kurtenbach to discuss the Blackhawks moves and non-moves leading up to the NHL’s 2011 Trade Deadline earlier in the day.

We talked about what Chris Campoli brings to the Hawks, and what he doesn’t; the Blackhawks’ needs and if Stan Bowman addressed any;  what effect Jordan Hendry’s injury had on Bowman’s plan; Scotty Bowman’s future; the Leddy plan; the Brent Seabrook contract extension and we also speculated on what would have happened had the Hawks not extended or traded Seabrook now or in the off season.

Feb 15th edition of TheThirdManIn~Radio

On Tuesday’s show we tackled two huge news stories involving former Blackhawks, Dustin Byfuglien and Kris Versteeg as well as listener emails and topics involving the Rockford IceHogs and their recent struggles.

We discussed Dustin Byfuglien’s 5-year $26 million contract extension in Atlanta and how, if at all, it will impact the Blackhawks negotiations with impending restricted free agent Brent Seabrook.  On Monday, Kris Versteeg was traded for the second time in eight months and we have the breakdown on Versteeg’s move to Philadelphia.  We revisit the June trade that sent Versteeg to Toronto and evaluate and compare the return against what Toronto received from the Flyers this week.

Also, we have excerpts from a Kyle Beach interview discussing his play and criticisims and Bill Peters evaluating the progress of Hawks’ prospect Chris DiDomenico, who is one of the pieces acquired from Toronto in exchange for Kris Versteeg.  In the emails, we discuss the possibility of Nick Leddy becoming a power play “quarterback”, the Hawks’ 50-man roster and obvious error on CapGeek, what’s keeping Kyle Beach in the AHL, probability of Marty Turco being traded and much more.

Al Cimaglia of Sirius/XM Radio and HockeyIndependent.com joined me on Tuesday night for 70-plus minutes of Blackhawks’ talk.

A great show.  Al’s extremely knowledgeable and has keen slant on the goings on with the Blackhawks.  We discussed the fallout from the Blackhawks’ performance in a 3-1 loss at Scotiabank Saddledome on Monday night and previewed the road ahead with games upcoming this week in Edmonton, Dallas and Phoenix to close out the Hawks’ six-game road trip.

TTMI~Radio e.70, Blackhawks-Canucks and Officiating Blues, UFC 126 predictions

A special Saturday night edition of TTMI~Radio here to discuss the aftermath following the Blackhawks somewhat controversial loss to the Canucks in Vancouver late Friday night.

** Note: We recorded this show a different way, in a different setting.  Chris’s audio in particular suffered from some background echoing for the first five minutes, but cleared up after then.   I don’t recall anything profound said during that time, so if you jump ahead to minute six or seven it should be just fine.

TTMI~Radio e.69: Pucking Around the NHL with Breakout! Hockey

This week we’re joined by Adam Summers of the Breakout! Hockey Program, which you can find at BreakoutHockey.podomatic.com.

With Adam we touch on a ton of league-wide topics including the weekend’s All-Star festivities, highlights, the burden of being Phil Kessel and the man who wakes up every day knowing he traded for him.

We take advantage of Adam’s Montreal Canadiens expertise to delve into that team’s first half.  The P.K. Subban controversies, the decision to keep Carey Price and trade Jaroslav Halak – how that looks so far and if we can expect the preliminary results to continue.

With 28 days to go until the NHL trade deadline and 69 days left in the NHL 2010-11 regular season, we look at early favorites, and possible darkhorses, to come out of the Eastern and Western conferences.  Other topics include HBO’s 24/7 vs TSN’s Oil Change documentary series, the plight of one Ilya Kovalchuk and much more including Summer’s thoughts on the current state of the Blackhawks and who on the IceHogs has impressed him in his visits to the Rockford MetroCentre.

Later in the show we discuss the blatant and unethical salary cap circumvention motives involved in Nick Leddy’s All-Star break supposed “reassignment” to AHL-Rockford.  Hint: Leddy never went there.  We discuss the Blackhawks’ upcoming 5-game road trip; what looks good and what looks to be dodgy.  Some notes on the next CBA negotiations, if Patrick Sharp was the right choice as ASG MVP, upcoming podcasts and much, much more.

And in amongst all of that, on a hockey show, we made space to discuss Snowmageddon!!, Shinsuke Nakamura, Satoshi Kojima, the GHC Heavyweight Champion Takashi Sugiura and the G-1 Climax tournament~!  Awesome.  I challenge you to find another hockey radio show anywhere with that kind of versatility.  Well, aside from Adam’s show.

Anyhow, enjoy, and thanks to all for listening.

Thanks again to Adam for joining us.  We’ll be back at least once more this week.  Superstar and I will be recording an experimental show on Saturday night talking Blackhawks-Blue Jackets, Hawks-Canucks and UFC-126 “Silva vs Belfort”.  I should also mention we will be drinking (perhaps heavily) during that show.

And we’ll return in our weekly weeknight timeslot next Tuesday, February 8th at 8pm central with a guest who is To Be Determined.

Until then, enjoy the snow and your silly big weekend ball games.

Jan 10th TTMI~Radio Blackhawks & NHL Mid Season report

On this week’s show, we discuss Blackhawk victories this weekend over the Ottawa Senators and Brideport Sound Tigers; the penalty kill woes, tackle the team’s biggest problem (rhymes with “teeth”), Brent Seabrook and Corey Crawford’s contracts and respective futures with the Blackhawks.

Also we look at Nick Leddy and if he’ll crack the significant 10-game barrier this week.  Later, we look at Stan Bowman’s trade options, his needs and our ideas for potential trade targets.

We list our picks for 1st Half MVP, Norris, Vezina and Jack Adams trophy leaders; biggest surprise, disappointments and more.

And we close with a shootout debate.  Should it be changed, if so, how?  And how we would improve the NHL’s current 3-point system.  All this and a little bit more on this week’s TTMI~Radio!
