Dominant 2 goal Kane performance lifts Hawks to 5-3 win over the Kings at Staples Center

By Brad Vandenberk

At the halfway point of their current six game road trip, the Hawks are collecting points and slightly staying ahead of the St Louis Blues in the Central Division.  Before entering game four in Los Angeles on Monday evening, the Hawks were 1-0-2.  They were still struggling to close the deal in OT and or the Shootout adding to their league’s worst 14 overtimes with a point lost. LA on the other hand is currently looking for goal scoring being shutout in most of their games.  Bryan Bickell made his return to the line up on the 3rd line along side Andrew Shaw and Brandon Saad.  Bickell is slowly creeping his way out of the Q’s dog house and knows he needs to use his physicality on the ice.  Marian Hossa has been taking a few maintenance days missing morning skates.  He remains in the line up but with the Olympic break just 5 days away, fatigue can be a factor.  You wouldn’t think with the Big Hoss, as his game is already getting Selke nods.  The fourth line has been exactly what the Hawks have asked for, playing good minutes, establishing the forecheck and actually tucking a few in at key times.  Read more »

image001(2)Dr Frederick Frankenstein : “For the experiment to be a success, all of the body parts must be enlarged.”
Inga: “His veins, his feet, his hands, his organs vould have to be increased in size.”
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: “Exactly.”
Inga:  “He would have an enormous schwantzstuker.”
Dr. Frederick Frankenstein: “That goes without saying.”

My wife and I went on a vacation with some good friends in Whistler, B.C. several years ago. While there, we mountain biked, golfed, hiked and horseback rode in that beautiful neck of the woods. Now normally on horse rides, you follow the horse in front of you at a very casual pace. On this ride however the cowboy asked us “do you want to trot?” Everyone was up for it, including myself, despite having what I called at the time, a groin pull. Read more »

Hawks hold on to beat LA 3-2, within one game of NHL record

By Brad Vandenberk

Hockey Day in America was celebrated Sunday and the Blackhawks entertained the United Center with some matinee action.  The Stanley Cup champions, LA Kings, were in town and looking to take some revenge over the Hawks.

Game one of this season had the Hawks spoiling the Kings’ Championship banner raising ceremony, winning 5 -2.  On Sunday, the Hawks were looking to maintain their dominance throughout the NHL.  They currently have recorded a single point or better for 14 straight games.  They are also playing their third home game over seven straight.

After a big win against the Sharks on Friday evening, the Hawks were looking to keep the momentum high against the Kings.  Read more »

TTMI~Radio, Kings’ Beat with MayorsManor.com

On tonight’s show we’re joined by The Mayor, coincidentally enough, owner and author of MayorsManor.com, an outstanding LA Kings’ blog.

John joins us to give us the latest on the Drew Doughty contract hold out, where the two sides stand and how Doughty’s status is, or isn’t, affecting his teammates.

Over this solid hour, we covered the Kings’ depth and versatility on the blue line.  We take a look at the rookie who will likely step in to hold Doughty’s place in the line up in the interim; Jack Johnson’s place heading into his new 7-year contract and Willie Mitchell’s health and value entering what is a contract-year for the former Canuck blue liner.

Up front we preview a new-look top six and the competition for jobs on the Kings’ third and fourth lines.  Also, Mayor gives us his thoughts on Mike Richards in LA, where the real leadership comes from on this Kings team and why the Mayor believes this group of Kings are the real deal.

We covered all-things Kings.  The Mayor does a terrific job covering the team.  From player interviews, behind the scenes insight to breaking news, MayorsManor is a must-visit for LA Kings information and analysis.
