It is fingernail reduction time, regardless of what medium of scoring comprises your league(s) as we hit the final stretch. For those in H2H leagues, it’s same as it ever was. Turn over your fringe players for other fringe players who have the scheduling advantage.

As for those in Roto style leagues, chances are there are multiple players who have either already abandoned their rosters, or have been paying minimal attention to their hockey league as the result of their poor finish and the looming fantasy baseball season. That can either be a good or bad thing for you. Good if you need to gain ground and can take advantage of “ghost” teams. Back and forth 65 minutes results in Red Wings 5-4 shootout win

By Michael Calvert

Wednesday marked the first meeting of long time rivals, ex-rivals?  The Hawks and Wings hadn’t played one another since Game 7 on the Western Conference semi-finals in late May.

The Hawks came out looking to bury the Wings early but as is their way so often they gave up counter strikes very soon after scoring themselves.

And just like that, it’s over. Blink your eyes, and the moment is gone, sequestered away in a cobweb of tangled neurons. It was subtle, beautiful and irrepressible. There is so much going on in such a short window of time. As Edna St. Vincent Millay noted; “April, comes like an idiot, babbling, and strewing flowers.” Indeed, it’s hard to keep up with it all. Round 1: Blackhawks better than Red Wings; 3-2

By Brad Vandenberk

The United Center was rocking on Friday night to witness the season’s first matchup between central divisional rivals Detroit Redwings and the Chicago Blackhawks.  This game was circled on the calendar for both teams as the Hawks have held their divisional lead over the Red Wings all season.  This would be the first of six for these 2 teams, with the first three games coming within 16 days.

Dan Carcillo returned to the lineup after suffering a concussion during the Minnesota Wild game on December 14.  Jimmy Hayes made his NHL debut after being called up from Rockford on Thursday.  He had switched places with Brandon Pirri who was sent back down after a mediocre game against LA on Wednesday.  Read more »
