TTMI’s Trade Central

Week two of the run-up to the trade deadline revealed…nothing. Not even a minor trade involving a role player. Even the rumor mongering from respectable insider types was largely hushed aside from some speculation that Bruins’ GM Peter Chiarelli could be on the outs if Boston were to miss the playoffs. That led to some new names allegedly hitting the trade block including Zdeno Chara, Loui Eriksson, Malcom Subban and Dennis Seidenberg. Seidenberg is largely irrelevant for fantasy purposes and I think there is next to no chance Chara moves before the draft. I’m also putting little weight into Jordan Staal’s return to Pittsburgh rumors. Read more »

Back to a normal schedule for the week, but if you’ve forgotten to drop those goalie streamers it’s time to check the aforementioned back to back games for this week. If you picked up Dubnyk or Tokarski it might work out for one more week as the Coyotes face the Oilers and Flames in back to back games, while Carey Price will almost assuredly receive the start against the Hawks with Tokarski perhaps grabbing the start in Dallas the following night. If you are still desperate for some goalie counting stats, Calvin Pickard presents that opportunity with Colorado facing back to back games with the Flames and Jets. Al Montoya could get the first of the back to backs, and the more favorable matchup against the Jackets in Columbus while Detroit looms the following night for perhaps Luongo’s return. Alex Stalock returns from the IR with back to back matchups against the Calgary and Edmonton to close the forthcoming weekend. Read more »

Blackhawks Dispatch Ducks 4-1 For Fourth Win On Circus Trip

By Jon Fromi

The Chicago Blackhawks skated into Anaheim Friday afternoon and took advantage of post-Thanksgiving bargains against a depleted Ducks defense. Chicago dominated most of the action on the way to a 4-1 victory.

With the win, Chicago has won four out of the first five games of its annual November road jaunt. The Hawks were in control throughout the matinee despite a game effort by Anaheim goalie Frederick Andersen.

First Period-The Hawks got their first shot on goal via Brad Richards late in the fourth minute. That attempt, gloved by Frederick Andersen, was followed by some increased offensive pressure on Chicago’s part. Anaheim put together a nice shift in the Hawks zone in the eighth minute, though Chicago eventually cleared the puck and posted the first tally of the contest. Read more »

Hawks take battle of West titans, 4-2 at the UC

By Brad Vandenberk

The Anaheim Ducks are not quacking their way to the top of the NHL standings they are literally steam rolling teams and now have a commanding 6 point lead in first place over all.  The only team that is that 6 points back are your Chicago Blackhawks.  The Ducks have won 18 of their last 19 games in convincing fashion especially embarrassing their last victims the Vancouver Canucks 9-1.  The Hawks last affair was a 3-2 loss to the Avalanche at home on Tuesday.  This game will be a determining factor to see how the Hawks match up against an elite team that they will have to prove beatable in order to make their way back to the Cup finals.
