Patrick Roy’s intensity overwhelms Blackhawks

Hawks can’t keep pace; lose 5-1 in Colorado to open Circus trip.

By Brad Vandenberk

It was time to kick off the Blackhawks annual circus road trip on Tuesday.  This happens every year around the same time in November when the lions, tigers and bears, OH MY, invade the United Center for two weeks.  As we have witnessed in the past, this trip provides an accurate measuring stick as to how well the Hawks play on the road.  Read more »

The Streak Is Over, Avs dominate Hawks 6-2

By Brad Vandenberk

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have reached the halfway point of the shortened NHL season and your Chicago Blackhawks have yet to lose a game in regulation.  Let’s see a show of hands of how many people thought this would happen.

At this stage let’s take a minute to review the season preview that was posted back in January.  There were a few statements that I made in believing what would make this Hawks team successful.

We will start from the goalies and make our way up to the forwards.  Corey Crawford and Ray Emery were viewed as being the “unknown” factors.  Read more »

Hawks need 3rd period comeback to beat Avs, 3-2; Shaw, Sharp leave game with injuries

By Brad Gardner

The Blackhawks escaped with 3-2 regulation victory over the visiting Colorado Avalanche Wednesday night at the United Center. Despite entering the third period down by a goal, the home team had the legs at the end to extend their streak to 24 games to start the season without a regulation loss.

By Jon Fromi

Jonathan Toews showed why he was afforded the NHL’s Second Star of the Month for November in the Chicago Blackhawks first contest of December against the visiting New York Islanders.

The captain notched a goal and an assist in regulation, then had the deciding shootout goal as Chicago snatched two points in a 5-4 decision. The game was far from the performance the Blackhawks were looking for after a lackluster loss to Phoenix earlier this week.

Despite allowing 41 Islander shots on goal and failing to hold a third period lead, the ‘Hawks came up with just enough to claim points number 32 and 33.

The Blackhawks created some excitement in the opening minute when a Brent Seabrook shot from the blueline found iron. Duncan Keith fired another shot on Al Montoya that Viktor Stalberg was able to get a stick on. Toews’s put back was waved off as the whistle had blown before he could get to the puck. Read more »
