TTMI~Radio, e.89 – “‘Hog Changes” w/ Mike Peck, voice of the Rockford IceHogs

On this edition of TTMI~Radio I’m joined by Mike Peck, the voice of the Rockford IceHogs.

Mike returns to help us preview the 2011-12 IceHogs’ season by examining the coaching change, new bench boss Ted Dent and the AHL squad’s roster turnover.  We also get Mike’s scouting report on Brandon Segal, who spent the last half of the 2004-05 season in Rockford while a member of the Nashville Predators’ organization.

We also take a look at important players up front and on the defense this year in the wake of key losses offensively as well in experience and leadership.  Ben Smith, Joe Lavin, Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin are discussed as well.  We also get an update on rink refurbishments currently going on at the Beemo Center.

As mentioned on the show, I’ll be the guest Wednesday night on the Let’s Go Kings podcast at 11pm eastern/10 central/8 pacific.  You can listen live or later in their archives at BlogTalkRadio.com/LetsGoKings.

TTMI~Radio, e.86, Sunshine SuperStan, Parts 1&2

This one…..

First, let’s apologize to our live streamers who thought we were going on live at 7 central tonight.  Obviously, that didn’t happen.  This is another reason why I have to get off BTR.  Our friend, one-time writer and regular podcast guest Dieter Kurtenbach is now a sports reporter at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.  A major development in a story Dieter is covering, the overheating death of a high school football player, came down just before we were about to go live.  So we pushed the show back an hour.  Due to the news story, Dieter couldn’t join us until 9:15, or 75 minutes into the show.  The way BTR works, because I had already gone live, there was no turning back or pausing until Dieter was available.

So the first part of the show is just me flying solo.  I know, I’d rather not listen to it either.  I gave the run down on the Ray Emery training camp invite, IceHogs changes, Kyle Beach’s next step, Campoli vs Lepisto and probably a list of other topics I can’t recall at the moment.

Part two is my hour-long talk with Dieter Kurtenbach on his questions regarding Stan Bowman’s contradictory maneuverings, Patrick Kane’s story, the Frolik, Campoli and Montador contracts or non-contract, Ben Smith’s future and much more.  We also discuss the buzz in South Florida about the Panthers, a team Dieter is now covering for the Sun-Sentinel.

Dieter jumps in at 1:14:00.

Thursday night Internet radio

TheThirdManIn~Radio returns Thursday night, still on BlogTalkRadio, live at a special time of 8pm eastern/7pm central.

Dieter Kurtenbach will join me to discuss all the latest actions, comings and goings in the world of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Since its been a couple of weeks since we’ve been on we haven’t had a chance to discuss Michael Frolik’s new contract nor Chris Campoli’s abrupt dismissal.  We’ll discuss Patrick Kane’s wrist injury and rank the peculiar nature of the back story.  And we’ll outline the Hawks’ cap status and what Stan Bowman could have in mind down the line, how he did and a few unrestricted free agents he passed up on.

Getting current, we’ll talk Blackhawks’ goaltending, Ray Emery and how one person’s departure has been severely overlooked.

We’ll take a look at the state of the Blackhawks defense, present and future; this year’s most important Blackhawk, team chemistry, Ted Dent, Kyle Beach and possibly a few listener emails.

The Florida Panthers are Dieter’s new team by a relocation of his own and he’ll give us a read on Panthers fever in South Florida.  And we’ll also peer into the curious case of Brandon Saad.

All this and more on tomorrow night’s (probably today by the time most of you read this) TTMI~Radio.  ITunes users can subscribe or download our shows here.

TheThirdManIn~Radio returns tomorrow night (July11) at 8pm central over at BlogTalkRadio.com.  Scout’s honor.

We’ll be discussing everything – All recent Blackhawks events including but not limited to Daniel Carcillo, the ins and outs of the Brian Campbell trade, if the Hawks have improved, Rockford IceHogs changes, Dale Tallon’s summer in-depth and finally give our impressions of the past week’s Blackhawks’ Prospect Camp.

ITunes users can subscribe, download our shows and listen here.

Monday night’s Hockeenight PuckCast

Gracious hosts as always, CT and the “Forklift” of Hockeenight.com welcomed me onto their PuckCast again last night.

Click the player below to listen here in your browser.  ITunes users can subscribe and download all of their shows in the podcast section of the ITunes store.

For others who prefer to download these audio programs, I uploaded it here.

We ran the gamut of Chicago Blackhawks topics on the show.  Here’s a list of just some of those:

-Blackhawks at this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft
-Who the Hawks are likely to pick
-Draft trades
-Which position the Hawks need to stock up on
-Making the right deal with Michael Frolik
-Bringing back former Hawks
-Two Hawks, aside from Marty Turco, definitely goners
-Niklas Hjalmarsson
-What Ben Smith won’t do next season
-The Kid Rock of hockey blogging
-Canucks injuries
-Joel Quenneville’s goalie gun
-Jeremy Morin

-Trying to make sense of why people dislike John McDonough so much
-Missing Tonkfest

-Phil Collins in Concert
-Hockey Returns to Winnipeg

-Raffi Torres, Aaron Rome, Hjalmarsson and hits that must be taken out of the game

And much, much more

Thanks as always to Fork and CT for having me on and to all those who take the time to listen to their show, as well as ours.

Check out this Monday night’s Hockeenight PuckCast

I’ll be returning as a guest on this week’s Hockeenight PuckCast.

The three of us will be recording the show Monday night starting at 8:15.  Since CT & the Forklift are a bit too weird for the mainstream, you’ll need to register for TalkShoe and note that you’re at least 18 to listen.

We’ll be wrapping the Stanley Cup Playoffs, previewing the Blackhawks at this week’s NHL Draft and looking ahead to what the Hawks might do when free agency commences the following week.  And I’m sure there will be a bevy of other topics as well, including mid-90’s Rangers’ references, Pierre McGuire appreciation, the dumbest thing written by a Blackhawks’ writer/blogger in the past two months (this could be a whole show), who will be the first NHL player to get out-ed for sending pictures (dongaging?)of their penis to women’s cell phones and finally where did it all go wrong for career of Dave Chyzowski?

If you can’t listen live the show will be posted at Hockeenight.com late Monday night / early Tuesday morning.

I’ll also post the audio here on Tuesday.

For those asking about the next edition of TTMI~Radio…. as the current and reigning Blackhawks’ general manager would say…. We’re right on schedule…. But I don’t have a timetable for our return.

Simulcast Playoff Preview with Hockeenight dot com

In place of our weekly TTMI~Radio show this week, we did a simulcast with CT and the “Forklift” on their weekly Hockeenight PuckCast.

You can listen to the show here or over on their web site.

Those of you who download the mp3 file can right-click here.   The show is two hours long so its a rather large file this time around.

Dieter Kurtenbach joined the fray as well.  We all gave our first-round predictions; discussed Alain Vigneault’s brain, Ben Smith’s game, Bryan Bickell’s aspirations to be the best $525,000 perimeter player in the game, an entire line of Frolik’s, Tomas Kopecky’s next contract, Electric Football, the Rockford IceHogs, sports writers ending sentences with exclamation points, Forklift’s bold prediction, Blackhawk Hope, keys to the series, Herb Abrams, the worst upcoming crop of 1,000 game players you could ever imagine, the “people’s prospect”, Micah Hoffpauir, USA Network drama, chicken nuggets in business suits and so much more.

It was a fun time as always with the Hockeenight guys.  Thanks to them as always for sharing their time with us.  Check out their show each and every week for a unique brand of wit and cantor you can only find there.

On the home front, I apologize for disappearing for the past week.  I was shot down by a bad virus.  And of course the timing was just perfect.  I’ll have NHL awards, first round and playoff predictions up over the next two days.

TTMI~Radio e.78 “Also For Sale”

On this week’s edition of TheThirdManIn~Radio we’re joined by regular contributor, the flamboyant Dieter Kurtenbach (@DKurtenbach for you Twitter kids) who was coming to us direct from Sin City on his #ZestyLiving 2011 ~Tour.

I must hand it to Dieter, by 6pm in Las Vegas I’m in a speedo floating face up in the adult pool.
