Monday night’s Hockeenight PuckCast

Gracious hosts as always, CT and the “Forklift” of Hockeenight.com welcomed me onto their PuckCast again last night.

Click the player below to listen here in your browser.  ITunes users can subscribe and download all of their shows in the podcast section of the ITunes store.

We ran the gamut of Chicago Blackhawks topics on the show.  Here’s a list of just some of those:

-Blackhawks at this weekend’s NHL Entry Draft
-Who the Hawks are likely to pick
-Draft trades
-Which position the Hawks need to stock up on
-Making the right deal with Michael Frolik
-Bringing back former Hawks
-Two Hawks, aside from Marty Turco, definitely goners
-Niklas Hjalmarsson
-What Ben Smith won’t do next season
-The Kid Rock of hockey blogging
-Canucks injuries
-Twitter
-Joel Quenneville’s goalie gun
-Jeremy Morin
-Getting the best player in a deal
-Gargantuan hockey bloggers
-Blackhawks convention
-More on Duncan Keith’s comments
-Trying to make sense of why people dislike John McDonough so much
-Missing Tonkfest
-Thoughts on Canucks-Bruins
-Phil Collins in Concert
-Hockey Returns to Winnipeg
-Trying to watch baseball
-Raffi Torres, Aaron Rome, Hjalmarsson and hits that must be taken out of the game

And much, much more

Thanks as always to Fork and CT for having me on and to all those who take the time to listen to their show, as well as ours.

Check out this Monday night’s Hockeenight PuckCast

I’ll be returning as a guest on this week’s Hockeenight PuckCast.

The three of us will be recording the show Monday night starting at 8:15.  Since CT & the Forklift are a bit too weird for the mainstream, you’ll need to register for TalkShoe and note that you’re at least 18 to listen.

We’ll be wrapping the Stanley Cup Playoffs, previewing the Blackhawks at this week’s NHL Draft and looking ahead to what the Hawks might do when free agency commences the following week.  And I’m sure there will be a bevy of other topics as well, including mid-90’s Rangers’ references, Pierre McGuire appreciation, the dumbest thing written by a Blackhawks’ writer/blogger in the past two months (this could be a whole show), who will be the first NHL player to get out-ed for sending pictures (dongaging?)of their penis to women’s cell phones and finally where did it all go wrong for career of Dave Chyzowski?

If you can’t listen live the show will be posted at Hockeenight.com late Monday night / early Tuesday morning.

I’ll also post the audio here on Tuesday.

For those asking about the next edition of TTMI~Radio…. as the current and reigning Blackhawks’ general manager would say…. We’re right on schedule…. But I don’t have a timetable for our return.

Simulcast Playoff Preview with Hockeenight dot com

In place of our weekly TTMI~Radio show this week, we did a simulcast with CT and the “Forklift” on their weekly Hockeenight PuckCast.

You can listen to the show here or over on their web site.

Those of you who download the mp3 file can right-click here.   The show is two hours long so its a rather large file this time around.

Dieter Kurtenbach joined the fray as well.  We all gave our first-round predictions; discussed Alain Vigneault’s brain, Ben Smith’s game, Bryan Bickell’s aspirations to be the best $525,000 perimeter player in the game, an entire line of Frolik’s, Tomas Kopecky’s next contract, Electric Football, the Rockford IceHogs, sports writers ending sentences with exclamation points, Forklift’s bold prediction, Blackhawk Hope, keys to the series, Herb Abrams, the worst upcoming crop of 1,000 game players you could ever imagine, the “people’s prospect”, Micah Hoffpauir, USA Network drama, chicken nuggets in business suits and so much more.

It was a fun time as always with the Hockeenight guys.  Thanks to them as always for sharing their time with us.  Check out their show each and every week for a unique brand of wit and cantor you can only find there.

On the home front, I apologize for disappearing for the past week.  I was shot down by a bad virus.  And of course the timing was just perfect.  I’ll have NHL awards, first round and playoff predictions up over the next two days.

TTMI~Radio: Trade Deadline edition with Al Cimaglia, Dieter Kurtenbach and Chris Block

Monday night I was joined by Sirius/XM Radio & HockeyIndependent.com ‘s own Al Cimaglia, and as well by Dieter Kurtenbach to discuss the Blackhawks moves and non-moves leading up to the NHL’s 2011 Trade Deadline earlier in the day.

We talked about what Chris Campoli brings to the Hawks, and what he doesn’t; the Blackhawks’ needs and if Stan Bowman addressed any;  what effect Jordan Hendry’s injury had on Bowman’s plan; Scotty Bowman’s future; the Leddy plan; the Brent Seabrook contract extension and we also speculated on what would have happened had the Hawks not extended or traded Seabrook now or in the off season.

Radio Exposed, TTMI~Tonight

Listen to our guest spot on Radio Exposed last night with Tinky and Louie here, or check them out at their BTR page: BlogTalkRadio.com/RadioExposed.  It’s not a hockey show but I did answer questions regarding up and coming Blackhawk prospects, the spelling of Tomas Kopecky’s last name and Hawks fans dumbest questions.  Later we touched on a variety of topics including the new TSA pat-down procedures, airplane wood, Leslie Nielsen, TV in the bathroom, public restroom etiquette and peep-holes in dressing rooms at Lane Bryant.  Fun interview.

Superstar jumps on at about the 55 minute mark and I join in a few minutes later.  In the first hour Tinky and Louie further discuss TSA, complaining to the police that your hooker ripped you off, sex in a car that ends in a river, underrated hottie of the week and the Ugly Betty actor who slashed his mom to pieces because he believed her to be possessed by the devil.

Radio Exposed is Live every Sunday night from 8-10 central time.

– Tonight, TheThirdManIn~Radio returns to Mondays in our usual 8pm time slot.  We’ll be analyzing a successful Blackhawks ‘Circus Trip.’  On the show two weeks ago we stated anything less than four wins would be a disappointment.  While the Calgary no-showing still stings, two victories over the weekend in Southern California are very encouraging and something the Hawks should build off of in this four-game homestand.

I’ll also have a full-analysis of the week that was in Rockford, Dustin Byfuglien’s great start, the real amusement in John Scott’s fight Saturday night, a ton of listener/reader emails and we’ll play a little word association game with the Blackhawks’ organization player chart.

So that’s tonight, 8pm central at BlogTalkRadio.com/TheThirdManIn or in the archives late tonight there, on this site or at ITunes.

Check back here late this morning for a new report.  Click here for a detailed review of Saturday’s IceHogs 5-0 loss to Peoria.

TTMI~Radio with Mike Peck, voice of Rockford IceHogs and Dieter Kurtenbach

Tonight we are joined by Mike Peck, voice of the Rockford IceHogs. Peck gives us his unique perspective on several Chicago Blackhawks prospects including Kyle Beach, Jeremy Morin, Igor Makarov and Ivan Vishnevskiy.  We also check on the health status of a few ‘Hogs, and also confirm news of the impending return of Mathis Olimb.  In addition, Mike discusses his background, his experience in the announcer’s booth and differences between UHL vs AHL.

Dieter Kurtenbach is in the guest-host chair on this edition of TTMI~Radio to discuss the Blackhawks at the 1/4 mark of the 2010-11 season, the impending 6-game road trip, what’s wrong with Duncan Keith and Marian Hossa and if Dieter’s ready to eat crow on Viktor Stalberg.

We also tackle the issues between bloggers and MSM (mainsteam sports media) and Tyler Dellow’s controversial discovery in NHL VP of Hockey Ops Colin Campbell’s email exchanges with former Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom.  And we ask the questions, “Would the reaction to this story been different if it were discovered by a member of MSM?” and “At what point should bloggers be held up to the same ethical and professional standards as members of the MSM?”

Thanks for listening…

HockeeNight’s 100th PuckCast with Dave Morris of Hockey Independent and Chris Block

Here’s the audio for tonight’s HockeeNight PuckCast. It was a pleasure to be a guest on their 3rd show two years ago and the many times in between. Congratulations to CT and the “Forklift” on their 100th show.  Tonight, I was a guest along with Dave Morris, writer at Hockey Independent.

Many topics were discussed including the Blackhawks at the quarter mark and what to expect of them moving forward.  We dug into the Colin Campbell email controversy, debated the integrity of NHL officiating, the blogosphere and the NHL’s place in today’s sports and entertainment landscape.  And so much more…
