The American Hockey League released its 2012-13 regular season schedule on Friday.
For the Rockford IceHogs, the 76-game jaunt begins on Saturday October 13th at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois against the Chicago Wolves. The two teams will face off again in the same venue the next afternoon.
Rockford’s home opener takes place Saturday October 20th in the first of a two-game weekend set with the Charlotte Checkers at BMO Harris Bank Center.
The IceHogs’ regular season home finale comes on Friday April 12th against the visiting Chicago Wolves.
Six of the IceHogs final eight regular season games will come on the road, including their final three.
Rockford completes the regular season in Austin, Texas on Saturday April 20th.
This season’s slate also comes with a neutral site game to be played on Sunday November 18th at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. The IceHogs opponent will be the Houston Aeros, the AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild.
Rockford will open its season on Saturday night, October 8th versus the Grand Rapids Griffins at the formerly-named MetroCentre, now the BMO Harris Bank Center.
The next day the IceHogs play their first road game at Peoria. That October 9th contest against the Rivermen begins a four-game road trip continuing with two games in Abbotsford on Oct 14 and 16. After five days off, the IceHogs make their first trip to Allstate Arena in Rosemont for the ’11-12 seasons’ initial meeting with the Chicago Wolves, brand new affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
In all, the IceHogs and Wolves meet twelve times during the new campaign. In a weird twist, the Hogs-Wolves season series will be complete by Feb 26th. The rivals will meet on back-to-back days on three separate occasions: Oct 21-22, Jan 20-21 and Feb 10-11 (both of these games are in Rockford).
–We are now 60 days away from opening night of the Blackhawks’ regular season. The AHL’s too for that matter.
—Rockford IceHogs have announced two preseason home games. Both will be played at the MetroCentre.
Wed Sept 28 vs Chicago Wolves, 7:05pm
Sat Oct 01 vs Peoria Rivermen, 7:05pm
The IceHogs will have one other exhibition game in Milwaukee on September 30th. That game will be played at the Milwaukee School of Engineering inside the Kern Center.
–Hearing now the loan agreement of Cristobal Huet between the Blackhawks and Fribourg-Gotteron of the Swiss National League is a done deal.
